Нарын, Кыргызстан (22 февраля 2012 г.) – с 22 по 24 февраля в Нарынской областной администрации в рамках инициативы ПРООН и ЮНЕП «Бедность и окружающая среда» состоится семинар по доработке стратегии развития Нарынской области. В течении трех дней Владимир Михалев, Советник по политическим вопросам в области сокращения бедности Регионального офиса ПРООН по странам Европы и СНГ в Братиславе и ответственные сотрудники областной администрации совместно доработают стратегию развития с учетом взаимосвязи вопросов бедности и окружающей среды.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (February 10, 2012) – Today UNDP in Kyrgyzstan presented a new project called "Effective disaster risk management for sustainable development and human security" to the local appraisal committee. The project is designed for 2012-16 and will be implemented together with the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Emergency Situations to help the Government reduce disaster risks and strengthen the national system of prevention and preparedness. The total project budget for 5 years is $5 million.

New York, 6 February 2012 — Young people around the world are deeply concerned about a lack of job opportunities and are calling for an increase in investment in this area, according to the latest World Youth Report, issued today by the United Nations.

In the aftermath of the economic crisis, the global youth unemployment rate saw its largest annual increase on record in 2009, resulting in around 75.8 million unemployed youth.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (February 3, 2012) – From 30 January through 3 February 2012, a delegation of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) visited Kyrgyzstan. Main goal of the visit is monitoring of implementation of the Global Fund grants and meeting with partners. The delegation consisted of Maria Kirova, Head of the GFATM Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Sandra Irbe, GFATM Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia  and Vitaly Jumagaliev, Senior Civil Society Specialist of the GFATM Partnership Department.

570 young people of Osh and Jalal-Abad provinces were trained 12 Vocational Schools on the most demanded professions during April-July 2011. They were unemployed youth from poor families aged 16-28, living in distant villages and areas affected by the ethnic conflict in the south of Kyrgyzstan in June 2010. The training was organized in by UNDP, UNICEF and UNHCHR within a joint project “Youth, Livelihood and Peace Promotion”, which was initiated in response to the crisis situation.  The project was funded by the UN Peacebuilding Fund and the Government of the Russian Federation.

On July 19, 2011 during a certificates award ceremony in vocational school #12 a young lady, who was standing among other invited guests, caught eyes of spectators. When she stepped up and delivered her congratulating speech, graduates of the school recognized her as a graduate of the last year’s courses. That day Aziza Suleimanova took part in the ceremony as an employer and hired two girls who completed hairdresser courses to work in her own beauty salon “Elina”.

Сегодня в Посольстве Российской Федерации в Бишкеке состоялась встреча, посвященная результатам сотрудничества Российской Федерации и системы ООН в Кыргызской Республике по оказанию содействия в 2011 году в постконфликтном восстановлении республики. В ходе встречи также рассматривались планы сотрудничества на ближайшую перспективу.

Во встрече принимали участие Чрезвычайный и Полномочный Посол Российской Федерации в Кыргызской Республике Валентин Власов и дипломаты Посольства, Постоянный Координатор системы ООН в КР Александр Аванесов, Руководитель Аппарата Президента КР Жанторо  Сатыбалдиев, Министр иностранных дел КР Руслан Казакбаев и главы учреждений системы Организации Объединенных Наций в КР.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (January 16, 2012) – Antiretroviral (ARV) medicines supplied to Kyrgyzstan by UNDP meet requirements of the World Health Organization said Professor Vladimir Krcmery, Rector of St. Elizabeth University of Health and Public Sciences, Bratislava (Slovakia), during his visit to province AIDS centers of Osh and Jalalabad. UNDP supplies ARV drugs as a principle recipient of the Global Fund Grant to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (January 4, 2012) –  In 2011 UNDP Disaster Risk Management Programme helped to reconstruct five pedestrian bridges in three villages of Boz-Uchuk village district of Aksy district of Issyk-Kul province.  For years these bridges/roads in the village had not been maintained and posed risks to the lives of people. A total of 7,5 km of internal roads in the Ichke-Jergez, Novo-Voznesovka and Enchilesh villages  were renovated providing safe access for people to agricultural and pasture lands.
